May Musings

I haven't posted on here for a while for various reasons. I was absent for longer than I intended to be, down to the fact I've been writing an assignment for work which has taken up a lot of my time more recently. My Grandma also passed away earlier this month, so that's been incredibly difficult to deal with. Understandably, my motivation to write has been lower than the usual.

I planned to write this post long before any of that stuff happened (except it was supposed to be called April Musings, but nevermind), so I'll just dive right in.

I have a lot of thoughts swimming around in my head - hence the blog title. Mostly things I want to work on for myself, career aspirations that I'm trying to make a reality, different things that I really want to achieve before the end of the year, and milestones that I'll be hitting in 2017.

Moving out (again)

I moved away from home when I went to university, and coming back to live at home was weird for me. I grew so used to having my independence and just taking care of myself that it was hard to fall back into the old habits I had when I was at home as a teenager. Admittedly, it's been four years now since I graduated, and I've stayed at home mostly for financial reasons. It makes sense for me to stay at home and save money rather than live elsewhere and pay extorionate amounts for rent alone.

Recently, one of my closest friends bought her first house (yay!) and she's in need of a roommate, cue me :) I'm hopefully going to be moving in over the next month or so, and I'm so very excited to do it. It'll be a fresh start and, for some reason,I feel like I'm going to have more control over the things I want to do, as well as the freedom to just do them. Exciting times ahead :)

Exercise & diet

I started back at the gym again at the beginning of April, and I was going every week, without fail, and really enjoying it. Recently I've fallen out of the habit, but I'm hoping to get back on the bandwagon soon. Diet-wise I've been doing really well. I'm not on a diet persay, but I've cut down massively on chocolate and other sugary foods and doing this has made me feel so much better in myself. My skin is clearer, I'm feeling far less bloated, and these can only be good things :) I might try some sugar alternatives at some point, but for the moment I'm happy to just cut it out.

Studying

As I mentioned at the beginning, I'm currently studying through work to gain a certificate in Money and Debt Advice. I enjoy learning, and thought it would be a waste if I passed up on getting another qualification to add to my CV whilst I'm at work. My first assigment is due at the beginning of June, so I don't have long left to perfect it!

Hair & Skincare

I'm in love with my hair at the moment. I had it chopped a lot shorter a couple of months ago, and it feels so much lighter and easier to take care of. I've also gone back to my beloved ombre blonde, which I missed for such a long time because my hair refused to co-operate with dyes. The recent heatwave has made my scalp a little sensitive and itchy, but my mum bought me some shampoo for Christmas that I've started using. It's not cheap, but it really does work. Everytime I use it my scalp feels soothed, which is especially nice when it's so warm.

My skin has been feeling pretty good recently as well. I've swapped back to a cheaper foundation, but one that seems to match my skin tone better. I'm lucky that I don't need a foundation with a lot of coverage and L'Oreal's True Match sits on my skin so nicely. I've also been using Liz Earle's cleanser and moisuriser, which has slowly been getting rid of the little dry patches I get around my eyebrows. Also, another little tip, I've been using a little dab of E45 on my dry skin just before I go to sleep, which seems to be working a treat.

I was at my local shopping centre a couple of weeks ago, and came across a few stalls that had been set up for the day, one of which was filled with bath bombs and body scrubs. Naturally I bought something, and I absolutely love it.

Heavenly Bubbles Honey Body Scrub. I don't even know where to start when describing this product. It's like a scrub in the form of a mousse, which feels so lovely on your skin. The scrub element is sugar, meaning no annoying little beads left in the bath once you're done - yay! It's full of almond oil which made my skin feel so soft, and the honey scent is so gentle which I personally love. They have a website here, and it's safe to say I'll be ordering more of these as soon as I run out of this one.

I think that's all for now. I'm about to go out and see Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, and I'm pretty sure I'll love it.
